Positive injury update on Rhys Norrington-Davies

It has been a year since the 24-year-old left the CBS Arena on a stretcher, a situation reminiscent of teammate Rhian Brewster’s injury at West Brom, who has since returned to fitness and the first team. However, Norrington-Davies’ hamstring issue was described as ‘more complicated’ by manager Paul Heckingbottom, resulting in a longer period on the sidelines. 

Nevertheless, there are positive signs for Rhys Norrington-Davies, who is said to be in good shape and on the path to recovery. His eventual return will be a significant boost for the Blades boss, who is currently dealing with a shortage of defensive options – Heckingbottom only has three centre-backs available. 

The Welsh international is a versatile player who can operate as a wing-back, full-back, and left-sided centre-back, providing valuable options for the manager. While there is no specific timeline for his return, the fact that he is back on the training pitch is an encouraging update on his recovery progress.

Paul Heckingbottom told SUTV:

“As a player, if you are left out of the team you do all you can to get back in. If you are injured you are helpless. It’s so hard to deal with as a professional sportsman but that’s where Rhys has been and he will be stronger for it because he will have been through that tough moment where he’s been up, down, battles against it but he’s progressing well.

“I can’t tell you when he will be back in and playing again.”
